Don’t Shoot!

The girl (me) who pretty well never writes poetry and who reads it only a little more than she writes it, has written a poem tonight.  That was said so that you won’t expect anything overly profound!  The inspiration for this one came from a sermon I just listened to in regards to all the criticism and accusations against Todd Bentley and what’s currently going on down in Lakeland, Florida.

Don’t Shoot!

Don’t shoot him. He’s your brother.
My brother too.
I’ll take the bullet for him,
and I’d take it for you.

Jesus said they’d know us by our love.
Where is love in this?
We tear each other apart by our words;
Our tongues like fists.

Why do we kill each other
in the name of Christ?
God loves him as much as He does you,
and He paid the price.

Won’t you?
