Everything comes in threes

I only came back to my parents’ house for one night to pick up the last of my stuff…and yet, here I am. Still at their house. Watching how everything comes in threes. Watching how everything goes from sudden to ‘suddener’.

The first event was when I suddenly decided that I needed to move to Vancouver. Once I actually decided, I felt that I had to do it rather quickly or I’d get too scared and wouldn’t follow through with it. God kept showing up to confirm things and work everything out…either that, or He never actually left (which is how I’d prefer to look at it).

The second event was caused by a tragedy: my aunt and uncle’s house burned down on the other side of Canada. As soon as they heard the news, my parents called my aunt and uncle and told them that the family would consider moving out there to help them rebuild and be support if they would like it. Now, while they would still have a choice about my dad helping them rebuild and the family being support, they don’t have a choice about my family moving out there. There is this incredible sense of urgency in the house right now. My parents have been giving so much stuff away these last couple days. They don’t know where they would be living out there or what they’d be doing. All they know is that this is God’s will for them at this time and they want to go for it with all they’ve got! (or rather, get rid of what they’ve got, and go for it) I mean, seriously, they are talking about the van, car, 7 kids, some clothes, and that’s about it. No moving truck. No furniture. Not even beds. And people thought *I* was hardcore!

The third event stems out of the second. If you did some counting, you would come to the conclusion that someone was missing. After all, 7 kids going out east and one in Vancouver adds up to 8…and there should be 9. Rauchelle would not be going out with the rest of the family due to high unemployment out there. It’s just not a smart move for her. So she will be staying behind. My parents have already put the house up for sale, and the original plan was for Rauchelle to stay in the house until it sells. On Monday, a lady came by to look at some stuff we were getting rid of. Denise is an amazing woman that we have only gotten to know because we were getting rid of lots of stuff several months ago in preparation for another move (which hasn’t happened yet!). So, she came by to relieve us of a few more things and to hear about the current plans in our family. When she got home that afternoon she told her husband about the family moving and Rauchelle getting left behind. I think she had already decided that Rauchelle should come and live in the cabin they have down on the beach below their house, but of course she had to run it by her husband. He said yes, so they offered this rustic cabin to Rauchelle FREE OF RENT. Rauchelle and I went by to look at it lastnight, and it is rustic. But it’s perfect for her! They said it’s available as soon as she wants it.

There are other things that have been happening that are tied up into these three events. Little things that are just confirmation that God is leading us on a big adventure and that we really are doing the right thing. But I’m not going to go into those because this post is probably already too long!

    my goodness!

I don’t know what else to say… if I was in your shoes, I’d be… a -bit- overwhelmed! but then again, I can count on one hand how many times I’ve moved, and all of them were stressful enough!

but I am glad you are staying in BC… it would be kinda hard to go see you for a day if you lived on the other side of the country!

Not only does “everything happen in threes,” I also believe that “everything happens for a reason,” be it theological or otherwise in nature. All the best to you and your family with all of these life changes. I’d have to say, not knowing any of you from Adam (and vice versa), I’m thinking Rauchelle got the best deal. :) Cheers!

thats pretty strange that I found this because today the thrid thing of a sries of bad things happened to me. First of all, my grandad is ill, the next day I hear that my auntie, uncle and baby cousin are moving to australia and I might never see them again in my life. Then the day after that I say to myself, wonder what the third thing will be, and like that the family dog wander on to a road and gets killed. maybe that will assure you that you are not alone my friend.
